Unlocking the Potential of the Community
" I'm here to not be served, but provide service to the people "
Although I'm no career politician, which I think is a positive thing. I am a God fearing man who definitely has the heart of a Pacific Islander True and True to the blood.
Listening to the Community:
This is definitely the first priority of all individuals who are in a leadership role. Whether your the owner of a company or a politician. It is always the best interest of any organization to listen before talking and/or taking action.

Listening to the Community:
This is definitely the first priority of all individuals who are in a leadership role. Whether your the owner of a company or a politician. It is always the best interest of any organization to listen before talking and/or taking action.
There is a reason God gave us two ears and one mouth. We should listen 2x more than speaking out. How are we suppose to know the issues that we face when we don't listen to those who know what the problem is.
Listening to the community is one of the most important responsibility that our leaders should grasp. This is crucial for several reasons. First and foremost, it ensure a diverse perspective which should be considered. By engaging with community members, an individual can gain valuable insights into the needs, concerns, and aspirations of a community. Their feedbacks are essential for making informed decisions that truly reflect the interest of those affected by them. Leaders can learn and solve a lot from just by listening to their community.
One of my biggest goals is to be transparent with the community. When a leader is transparent about their decisions, actions, and the reasoning behind them. The community members will understand the rationale behind policies and initiatives, which can foster informed participation and support. The community deserves informative, fairness, and equity in a decision making process. This openness minimizes suspicion of favoritism or hidden agendas, which promotes trust and collaboration.
When trust is established, that trust should be cultivated and honored. As soon as that trust is built between leaders and the community. Positive engagement and initiatives are created to support decision for issues towards projects that affect the community. Leaders will be able to make decisions with greater legitimacy and effectiveness, leading to stronger and more cohesive communities.
Collaborate with Local Developers who share the same goals as the community in order to flourish the local economy. Ideas that can provide homes to residence based on criteria's that local residence can afford.
Hawaii's housing market makes it hard for locals to attain a home whereas individuals from the mainland and/or foreigners have the luxury of affording the median price of $1.3 million for a home here on Maui. In order to afford a home based on the median price, an individual or family would need to have an income of at least $120,000 a year. This is one of the reasons why local families are leaving the island.
I believe that if our Government can step up and establish systems that increases the development of homes that are meant for the locals. Such as ensuring that the housing project is funded to supply more than 50% of affordable housing strictly for the residence. This will create an increase in economic growth because the local home owners will be able to spend more into the economy hence creating more revenue for the locals.
Create a team that will go through the existing programs such as Hawaiian Homestead, Section 8, and even government financial assistance programs. The team would investigate the current housing assistance resources program in order to identify issues that hinders the community from receiving benefits. These issues will need to be reviewed and collaborated with the community regarding ideas that can solve the issue. Or the individual in office can actually propose some ideas to the community that are based on proven theories with facts and truth.
Invest in the communities education opportunities that provides the skills and knowledge to fulfill high paying jobs here on Maui. For example, higher education resources and opportunities within trade and tech schools that supports our economy. These types of education institutes can assist with many trades that face labor shortages within our community which can provide a community with the ability to become sustainable and independent. Our education system needs to offer targeted training in specific skill and trades. These education programs have provided many benefits that can accommodate the needs of a community and at the same time, has proven to generally have lower tuition costs compared to universities. This allows locals to be able to afford higher education that takes less time to complete than traditional four-year degrees and at the same time fulfill high paying jobs.
With your support, we will persistently bring together our community to find fresh innovative solutions to long-long standing challenges.
I love our community, so feel free to reach out.
